Cape Town schedules water outages for maintenance in multiple suburbs
CAPE TOWN — 19 August
Planned maintenance will cause water shut-offs across several Cape Town suburbs starting 19 August, the City’s water and sanitation directorate has announced. The disruptions form part of infrastructure improvement projects and pressure tests.
Low-pressure investigations in Hanover Park, Athlone, Rylands, Newfields, Pinati Estate, Belthorn Estate, Penlyn Estate, and Belgravia will continue for approximately five months. On Tuesday, 19 August, contractors tracing water mains in Hanover Park, Newfield, and Pinati Estate will cause “intermittent flow disruptions” through valve adjustments. (City of Cape Town)
From 9:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 19 August, a complete shut-off will affect parts of Hanover Park and Philippi. This includes Deutz Street, Becker Street, Govan Mbeki Drive (between Heinz Road and Jan Smuts Drive), Springfield Road, Mahillion Road, and surrounding areas.
Uitsig and Eureka Estate in Elsies River will experience water interruptions from 9:00 to 18:00 on Thursday, 21 August for new pipeline connections.
Zero-pressure tests and conditional assessments will also occur in:
- Parow Central: Monday, 18 August (10:00-13:00)
- Belmont Park, Eikendal, Kleinbegin, and Summerville: Wednesday, 20 August (10:00-16:00)
Residents in affected areas are advised to plan accordingly during scheduled outages.
