Malema Tells Zimbabweans: Find Jobs in Your Own Municipalities
SESHEGO — Saturday
South Africa’s EFF leader Julius Malema urged Zimbabweans to seek employment in Zimbabwe rather than competing for jobs locally.
Malema made the remarks on Saturday during the Siyabonga rally in Seshego, Limpopo, where his party celebrated recent by-election victories.
The stance reverses his 2022 position, when Malema encouraged Zimbabweans to work in South Africa and referred to it as their home. (party archive records)
Malema stressed Zimbabweans should find jobs through their municipal systems. “We are not saying Zimbabweans should not be given jobs, but they must get jobs from their own municipalities,” he said, specifically naming Harare and other Zimbabwean cities.
He cited alarming youth unemployment rates in South Africa, stating EFF policies now prioritize local job allocation for South African workers.
While Malema historically advocated pan-African unity and encouraged Zimbabwean electoral participation, his new focus centers on protecting domestic employment opportunities.
