South African Social Media Awards Reveal 2024 Nominees

JOHANNESBURG

The 2024 South African Social Media Awards (SASMAs) have announced nominees celebrating outstanding digital creators and campaigns across 25 categories.

Big Brother Mzansi personality Ashley Ogle leads with nominations including Emerging Social Media Personality, Best Social Media Newcomer, and Most Popular Hashtag (SASMA).

Media star Lasizwe Dambuza earned nods for African Social Media Star and Social Media Personality of the Year. His show “Awkward Dates” is nominated for Popular Content Across Platforms (TD Media).

African Social Media Star contenders include Anele Zondo, Mihlali Ndamase, Nadia Nakai, and Zee Nxumalo. Global sensation Tyla appears in both Social Media Personality and African Star categories.

Vlogger nominees feature Cyan Boujee, Grace Mondlana, Faith Nketsi, and Lethabo Mekoa. Fashion influencers Ipeleng Selepe, Kefilwe Mabote, and Siya Bani compete for top style honors.

The awards spotlight creators shaping digital culture through storytelling and engagement. Winners will be announced at a ceremony later this year.

“The competition celebrates authentic voices driving social media influence,” organizers stated, acknowledging the record number of entries (SASMA).
