SASSA Confirms August SRD Grant Payment Dates
PRETORIA — 19 August 2025
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will pay COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress grants for August between 27 and 30 August.
SASSA urged beneficiaries to note these dates and confirmed payments will be processed in cycles. Applicants with unresolved issues must first complete verification before receiving funds.
“The next payment date for August for COVID-19 SRD is from 27 to 30 August,” SASSA stated.
Many applicants have queried the meaning of a “referred” application status. SASSA clarified this requires identity verification before payment.
“It means you must verify your identity,” the agency explained.
It added: “You get referred status to enhance security, ensure that we are paying the eligible beneficiary and minimise the risk of paying the wrong person.”
Beneficiaries who resolve “referred” status won’t lose their payments. SASSA confirmed normal payments resume after verification.
“If referred status has been resolved you will get paid from the next payment cycle and historic payments will be paid as per the schedule,” SASSA noted.
The agency reminded applicants to keep personal information updated to avoid delays in accessing funds, which support millions facing economic hardship.
