Sea Point’s Regent Building Sells for R150 Million, Set for Major Redesign
CAPE TOWN — 21 August 2025
The Regent Building in Cape Town’s Sea Point area has sold for R150 million to Quorum Holdings, which plans significant redevelopment.
The seven-storey, 5 434m² building stands opposite Mojo Market on Regent Road. Its location positions it in one of Cape Town’s most vibrant and valuable commercial strips.
Quorum Holdings, known for projects like Lady Backs, The Valour in De Waterkant and Charlie & The Chairman, will convert it into modern mixed-use space. While official plans aren’t released, past projects suggest upscale residential, retail and hospitality offerings.
Property broker Ash Muller stated: “This acquisition fits perfectly with our long-term strategy of revitalising prime urban areas.” Market analysts note its beach proximity, restaurants and transport links enhance tenant appeal.
The sale signals strong investor confidence in Sea Point’s evolving property market. Stakeholders expect the project to boost local employment, increase property values, drive business traffic and improve area aesthetics (source not provided).
Quorum hasn’t revealed detailed designs yet but anticipates the project will reflect its signature focus on lifestyle and innovative design. Redevelopment could start shortly after Competition Commission approval.
