
Manaka Ranaka opens up about grief months after daughter’s death

Actress Manaka Ranaka has shared her ongoing struggle with grief months after her daughter Katlego’s passing. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the Generations and Gomora star revealed how mornings remain especially difficult since Katlego’s death in January.
She wrote: “Umtanami ulele (my child is resting). I wish I could say it’s getting easier but I can’t, not yet. My mornings are the toughest. Most times it’s hard to get up and face the world! But for Lele, Seni and Mpho I kick those blankets!!! I make sure I get up for them and myself. Rest Eazy MyBigGirl.” (Manaka Ranaka’s Instagram post)
The post included photos of Katlego and a bittersweet screenshot of her scheduled November 2025 graduation from Ekurhuleni Agricultural College – highlighting milestones she’ll never reach.

The Ranaka family confirmed Katlego’s death on 23 January, stating: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the sorrowful news of the passing of our cherished Katlego ‘KG’ Ranaka on January 23. The Ranaka family humbly requests your prayers and respect for their privacy during this profoundly challenging time.” (Family statement)
Ranaka continues to honor her daughter’s memory while finding strength for her three surviving children.
