Eskom schedules nine-hour power outage in Gauteng areas for maintenance

Eskom will cut electricity in parts of Gauteng for nine hours on Friday, 29 August from 9:00 until 18:00 for planned maintenance work.

The power utility stated the outage would affect several Soweto suburbs: Central Western Jabavu (CWJ), Dlamini, Dube, Jabavu, Klipspruit, Mofolo North, Molapo, Moroka, Pimville and Rockville. (Eskom statement)

Eskom explained: “It is essential for maintenance to be conducted to service the infrastructure to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the electricity supply.”

The utility recently conducted similar work in Duduza on Wednesday, 27 August, cutting power to Bluegum View, Zamane and the Zamane informal settlement. (Eskom statement)
