Bonang Matheba eyes airline deals for her BNG sparkling wine

Media star Bonang Matheba wants her House of BNG sparkling wines served on flights globally. The businesswoman aims to expand her brand into airlines as part of growing her luxury business empire.

“I want to get into airlines,” Matheba told Sunday World. Her brand launched in 2019, becoming the first Black woman-owned label in the Cap Classique Producers Association. She admitted facing challenges: “As a woman getting into any industry, it will always come with its challenges.”

After resolving a legal dispute with Celebrity Services Africa in 2023, Matheba now fully owns House of BNG. She said: “Perseverance is very important. Surround yourself with mentors and never give up.”

The brand will launch canned BNG Mimosa in October 2025. Matheba explained the strategy: “We want a variant for every occasion. Mimosas in the morning, Brut in the afternoon, and Nectars in the evening.” Besides airlines, she’s targeting hotels and restaurants.

During Women’s Month, Matheba highlighted her work as a Crown Chasers judge: “I love Crown Chasers. I learn what the younger generation wants.” Her bursary fund and production company support youth development.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, she advised: “Work with what you have and don’t put yourself under pressure. Work at your own pace.

Matheba’s aviation push marks her latest effort to build House of BNG into a worldwide lifestyle brand.
