City Power Johannesburg will cut electricity for eight hours in 11 suburbs on Tuesday and Wednesday, 26 August 2025, for essential network maintenance.

The utility stated these scheduled interruptions will enable necessary infrastructure service upgrades. “The interruption is necessary to do maintenance work on our network, which is part of our programme of constantly striving to provide a better service,” City Power said in a statement.

Customers in these areas will be affected:

Separately, City Power reported achieving over 86% performance targets for the 2024/2025 financial year, despite challenges like vandalism, illegal connections, and rising costs (utility statement).

The utility connected 3,539 households to the grid in Ivory Park, Orange Farm, and parts of Soweto during this period.
