Kelvin Momo apologises for no-show at Sun City Resort event
JOHANNESBURG — 17 August 2025
Popular DJ and producer Kelvin Momo issued a public apology after failing to appear at Sun City Resort’s Outside event on 16 August despite being a headline act.
Fans were left disappointed when Momo missed his scheduled performance at the Gary Player Golf Course, where he was billed alongside Mandisi Dyantyis (event organisers).
In a social media statement, Momo (real name Thato Ledwaba) wrote: “I would like to sincerely apologise to Sun City Resort, the event organisers, and most importantly, all the fans and guests for my absence and the disappointment caused by my non-attendance at the Outside Event scheduled for 16 August 2025.”
He blamed “unforeseen circumstances and miscommunications” for his absence, admitting: “I should have responded more promptly and transparently to all parties involved” (Momo statement). The artist promised improved communication protocols with his team.
Sun City Resort issued a counter-statement claiming “Momo was contracted, booked, and paid for” but failed to appear or respond to communication attempts (resort statement). They added: “Neither Momo nor his management have responded to any of Sun City’s requests for an update.”
The resort apologised to attendees, describing the incident as resulting from “unprofessional and poor conduct of the artist concerned, which is beyond our control.”
This marks Momo’s second high-profile absence this year after missing three venues in May 2025 due to health reasons. Regarding those incidents, his management stated: “Due to unforeseen health issues, our artist, Kelvin Momo, fell ill, forcing us to cancel these highly anticipated gigs” (May 2025 statement).
Momo concluded his recent apology saying: “I am truly grateful for your support… I hope to make it up to you at a future event” (social media post).
