
MaWhoo Releases “Amazwi Okubonga” Album After Hit Single Tops 45M Streams

South African singer MaWhoo has released her new album “Amazwi Okubonga”, following her hit “Bengicela” reaching over 45 million global streams.
The album includes collaborations with established artists like Zee Nxumalo, Nkosazana Daughter and Thatohatsi, alongside rising talents DJ Veek and Criimora b.k.z. (Album release announcement)
MaWhoo described the project as her “labour of love” on Instagram, saying: “I’m grateful to God, and to all the people who’ve supported my music throughout the years. This is my gift to you. May the music nurture, inspire and heal you like it did with me during the making of it.”
The singer specifically highlighted the track “Umona”, stating: “Guys I love this song I hope nani nizoythanda (you will love it too).” The song features DJ Veek, Criimora b.K.Z, ChildDaDJ and Sykes.
Before the album launch, MaWhoo celebrated “Bengicela”‘s streaming milestone, posting: “‘Bengicela’ has done 45 million global streams across all major DSPs.” (Instagram)
She added: “When I wrote this song, I asked God for more open doors, and it has gone on to achieve so much in such a short space of time.”
