Durban Reopens Westbrook Beach, Keeps Four Others Closed

The eThekwini Municipality has reopened Westbrook Beach but kept four Durban beaches closed due to poor water quality. Officials issued updated swimming advisories on Monday confirming 19 beaches and 40 public pools remain open to residents. (municipality statement)
Closed beaches are Anstey’s Beach, Doonside Beach, Winklespruit and Reunion. The municipality stated these have not met water safety standards, though the specific testing metrics weren’t shared. (municipality statement)
“This status of beaches and pools will be updated as and when their status changes. You can still enjoy other recreational activities at closed beaches. You just can’t swim,” the municipality said.
All open beaches operate between 06:00 and 18:30. The accessible beaches include:
