Moagi criticises US speaker Umar Johnson’s “divisive” SA message

South African political commentator Katlego Moagi has strongly criticised controversial US speaker Dr Umar Johnson for his “divisive” message during talks hosted by the MK Party in South Africa.

On her “Citizen Concerned” channel, Moagi described Johnson as “a racist from America” whose views “appeal to the worst of us”. Johnson spoke to youth groups and schools last month on Pan-Africanism, stating apartheid never truly ended, calling the 1994 transition “a dress rehearsal for the new apartheid”.

Moagi challenged Johnson’s claims that South Africans should “fight wars” against “white people” who “think the world belongs to them”. “Which white people?” Moagi asked. “The white people that I give five rand to at the mall for guarding my car? … people are not your enemies based on their colour, but based on their deeds.”

Moagi attributed current hardships to ANC governance, not apartheid. “The ANC is the party that has appointed their members to be CEOs… of government entities that they have no clue how to run successfully,” she stated, adding, “Black auditors are being murdered by black people trying to protect black tenderpreneurs.”

She urged Johnson to “go back home and focus on fixing your gang culture that has destroyed your own people in America and stop spreading this racist evil propaganda here.”

Moagi questioned Johnson’s remarks on mineral ownership, clarifying South Africa’s state custodianship under law. “The minerals of this country belong to the state… [they] actually do belong to South Africa,” she countered.

Concluding her critique, Moagi stated Johnson brought the “message of thieves destroying our country”. She asked, “Why this man is being allowed anywhere near children to speak hatred and lies,” emphasising “Our country needs unity, not further division… needs peace, not hatred.”
