Joe Thomas and Donell Jones to Perform at NDLALA Mall Grand Opening

R&B legend Joe Thomas and singer Donell Jones will headline concerts during NDLALA Mall’s expanded grand opening weekend on 22 and 23 August 2025, mall organisers announced.

The Friday night show will feature Joe Thomas, with Donell Jones closing festivities on Saturday at the mall in Arcadia, Pretoria. The extension adds a second concert day to the opening celebrations.

According to the event announcement, Thomas has released music for over 30 years, including the 1993 debut “Everything” and chart-topping “My Name Is Joe”. His hits include No. 1 song “Stutter” and top-10 favourites “All the Things Your Man Won’t Do”, “Don’t Wanna Be a Player”, and “I Wanna Know”.

Announcing his South African stay during a weekend show, Thomas stated: “South Africa, I have a surprise for you — I’m staying.” He explained his presence: “I’m here to support my friend Thami Ndlala and be part of this incredible celebration.”

NDLALA Mall CEO Thami Ndlala said the dual concerts fulfilled a promise: “This event was always about giving our audience the choice to enjoy their favourites. Now they get two nights, two legends, and one unforgettable grand opening.”

The mall forms part of a mixed-use development by Ndlalayesizwe Real Estate, founded by self-made billionaire Ndlala. The complex includes the adjacent Ndlala Oligarch Hotel and Apartments.
