
Eskom Plans Nine-Hour Power Outage in Gauteng Suburbs
GAUTENG — Tuesday, 2 September
Over ten areas in Gauteng will experience a nine-hour power outage on Tuesday, 2 September as Eskom conducts essential network maintenance. The scheduled interruption will run from 9:00 to 18:00.
The utility stated: “The power outage will affect customers in Vosloorus Ext 2, 3, 7, 16, 29, 31, Nguni, Mailula, Mabuya Park, Sotho section, and Nguni hostel on Tuesday, 2 September, from 9:00 – 18:00.” (Eskom statement)
Workers will perform critical maintenance on distribution power lines, which Eskom called necessary to ensure infrastructure safety and reliability. (Eskom statement)
Residents must treat all electrical appliances as live throughout the outage period as a safety precaution. (Eskom advisory)
Eskom apologised for inconvenience: “Eskom apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused by this maintenance.”
The utility noted maintenance could be delayed if unforeseen circumstances occur: “Should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated.”
