SANParks has temporarily closed the Storms River Mouth suspension bridge for essential maintenance. The closure affects weekdays from 1 to 15 September 2025 but weekends remain open for visitors. (SANParks)
The iconic 77-metre bridge, suspended seven metres above the river, underwent scheduled work to preserve safety and structural integrity. It remains one of South Africa’s most photographed attractions. (SANParks statement)
During weekday closures, alternative activities are available including hiking trails like Waterfall, Otter, Loerie and Blue Duiker routes. Guided Kayak and Lilo Adventures into the river gorge will also operate normally.
Park Manager Adriaan Grobler encouraged visitors to continue enjoying the area’s offerings. “Birdwatching, photography, and the restaurant facilities remain available throughout,” he emphasised.
The suspension bridge will fully reopen on 16 September 2025, coinciding with National Parks Week. Visitors can access current updates via the SANParks website.
