Bongani Luvalo launches second book on black masculinity

JOHANNESBURG

“Married at First Sight SA” star Bongani Luvalo will launch his second book, “Ntliziyo Ungumkhohlisi”, with an elegant event at Sandton’s Maslow Hotel on 5 September. Attendees will enjoy live readings, acoustic performances and local cuisine.

Luvalo has evolved from reality TV fame into a storyteller exploring modern manhood. His new work examines black masculinity through raw themes of love, heartbreak, fatherhood and healing (Instagram).

The book blends lyrical writing with personal anecdotes from Luvalo’s life and wider South African experiences. He describes the work as “to hold, to cherish, and to journey with” in an Instagram statement.

Luvalo shared his emotional connection to this milestone, writing: “I have walked through many seasons in this journey called life… I never paused to bask or celebrate; I simply moved on to the next pursuit” (exact Instagram quote).

This follows his first book “A Father, A Stranger,” continuing his exploration of identity. Both works challenge traditional views of fatherhood and personal growth.

The launch marks a significant step in Luvalo’s creative path as he uses his platform to spark conversations about masculinity in contemporary South Africa.
