Tyla Wins Best Afrobeats at 2025 MTV VMAs in Stunning Chanel

Tyla dazzles at MTV VMAs, wins Best Afrobeats award

South African music star Tyla stunned on the MTV VMAs red carpet while claiming the Best Afrobeats trophy for her hit “Push 2 Start” on Sunday night.

The Johannesburg-born singer turned heads wearing a tiny beige Chanel minidress—a reworked corset from the brand’s 1993 collection. She complemented it with layers of Pandora gold jewellery: necklaces, waist chains, bracelets and ankle pieces.

Practical fashion choices prevented wardrobe mishaps: “She also wore super-short black shorts underneath” according to show reports, completing the look with sharp black pointed heels.

Alongside her fashion moment, Tyla secured one of the night’s major musical honours. “Proudly claimed the ‘Best Afrobeats’ award at the VMAs”, stated event coverage, acknowledging her global influence.

The singer’s “Push 2 Start” music video also earned a Best Choreography nomination, demonstrating her expanding creative impact.

In a recent Variety Magazine interview, Tyla revealed ambitious future plans beyond music: “I want to do almost everything,” she said. “I want to look back one day when I’m older and be like, ‘Damn! I really lived my life.’” Her goals include acting and creative direction.

Tyla’s rapid international rise continued as red-carpet glamour and award recognition signaled her growing stature across the music and fashion worlds.

The VMAs ceremony took place in the United States on 7 September 2025 (social media announcement).
