Phumeza Shoba files for divorce from house music star husband

Actress Phumeza Shoba has reportedly ended her 11-year marriage to house music artist Mnqobi Shoba, citing alleged infidelity and emotional abuse.

Sources told Sunday World Phumeza officially separated from her husband in July and has initiated divorce proceedings (Sunday World). The sources requested anonymity over fears of retaliation.

Phumeza reportedly alleges Mnqobi cheated on her, with one source claiming: “Phumeza said Mnqobi cheated on her, and that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She tried to forgive him but she found it impossible because he had betrayed her trust.”

The actress, known for hosting TV show Abandoned, also accuses her husband of psychological and emotional abuse (anonymous sources).

Before the alleged infidelity surfaced, the couple had frequent disagreements about their marriage, with a source adding: “They differed a lot about how a marriage should exist.”

Phumeza initially sought an amicable separation without lawyers, but this failed due to suggested non-cooperation from Mnqobi. “She felt he did not take her efforts to part ways amicably seriously,” a source explained (source not provided).

Mnqobi has not publicly responded to the allegations. He is reportedly overseas until October on an annual trip scheduled between April and October each year (anonymous sources).

Friends hope for a peaceful resolution, saying: “We hope that when he returns they will find each other and resolve their differences.”
