Penny Ntuli Apologises Over Freeway Dance Safety

Radio host Penny Ntuli apologises for freeway dancing video

Jozi FM presenter Penny Ntuli has apologised after a video of her dancing on a busy freeway went viral, drawing criticism from road safety authorities.

The clip showed Ntuli and a friend twerking beside moving traffic on the N3 highway, sparking mixed reactions online. Some found it entertaining while others raised safety concerns. (social media)

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) strongly condemned the act: “The RTMC is astonished by this behaviour on our national roads. Pedestrians under the NRTA are prohibited on the freeways and it’s illegal. Content creators should not risk their lives for ‘likes’.” (RTMC statement)

Ntuli responded to the backlash stating: “We were dancing out of fun. What I did wasn’t meant to hurt anyone.” She suggested the reaction was influenced by her fame: “I know some things happen because it’s Penny Ntuli, if it was someone else who isn’t Penny Ntuli this wouldn’t even be up for discussion.”

Addressing allegations she was intoxicated, Ntuli said: “I saw comments of people saying I can’t handle alcohol, but I don’t drink alcohol. Everything I do, I do with both my eyes and a sober mind.”

She explicitly warned against copying her actions: “Please don’t be on the freeway doing what I did because it’s not safe. The N3 is known for accidents and I realised that I put my life in danger.”

Ntuli expressed regret to concerned citizens: “I apologise to those who were concerned.” She also apologised specifically to truck drivers, acknowledging her dancing could have caused distractions and accidents.

While maintaining the dance was meant harmlessly, she admitted the location was dangerous and urged “safety should always come first.”
