Mitchum Deodorant Recalled in SA, UK Over Irritation

Mitchum Recalls Deodorant Batches Due to Skin Irritation Reports

Deodorant manufacturer Mitchum has recalled specific batches of its 100ml roll-on products in South Africa following consumer reports of skin irritation.

The recall affects only “select batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100 ml Roll-On, sold here in South Africa” with no other product lines involved (company statement).

Mitchum confirmed the issue resulted from “a change in the manufacturing process of one of our raw materials”, not from formula adjustments. This modification “altered how the product interacts with the skin of some consumers”.

The company has reverted to its original production methods and is removing affected stock from retailers nationwide.

Consumers should check batch numbers on packaging bottoms to identify affected products. Only specific batches are involved.

Affected customers should immediately stop using the product and contact Mitchum through toll-free number 0800 128 464 or www.mitchum.co.za/contact-us.

“We are truly sorry to those who were impacted,” Mitchum said, adding consumer safety was their priority: “Your well-being means everything to us”.

No long-term health effects have been reported, but Mitchum is monitoring the situation (company statement).
