Pearl Thusi’s daughter Thando Mokoena joins Showmax’s ‘Youngins’

Thando Mokoena, daughter of actress Pearl Thusi, has landed a role in the final season of Showmax’s popular teen drama “Youngins”. The 18-year-old will appear alongside YouTuber Ghost Hlubi in the show’s third season, announced by the streaming platform on Friday.

Showmax revealed the casting on Instagram with a playful caption: “New bombshells have entered Olifantsfontein High.😉 Drama’s brewing, alliances are shifting, but wait. There are some interesting additions!🤭 And they’re coming in hot👀. #YounginsShowmaxS3.”

Fans celebrated the news online. Instagram user @thyfw._.faiith commented: “It’s a flex to see Thando and Ghost Hlubi in my school uniform.” @ladypegasus_3d added: “I’m crazy about this season,” while @2.0fifiey wrote: “Can’t wait for season 3.”

The final season launches on 19 September 2025, with three new episodes released weekly. Newcomers include Katlego Moloke as Alex, Amogelang Telekelo as Palesa, Toka Matabane as Khaya, Tabile Tau as Sefako and Lebogang as Tumelo.

Actress and casting director Keneilwe Matidze will double as the Life Orientation teacher Pearl, contributing both on-screen and behind the scenes.

Thando’s acting debut follows her milestone 18th birthday, which her mother commemorated by DJing at the celebration. Pearl Thusi jokingly noted: “Thando’s 18th birthday had me DJing for free smfh,” before adding: “Wish my baby a happy 18th birthday.”

Viewers anticipate high school drama and fresh dynamics as Thando and the new cast join the series’ concluding chapter.
