AfriForum Submits Malema Dossier to US

LEGAL REVIEW RECOMMENDED

AfriForum has appealed to former Trump administration officials for international sanctions against EFF leader Julius Malema, citing alleged incitement to violence and farm attacks. The civil rights group presented a detailed dossier to US officials during a recent diplomatic visit.

The document lists accusations including Malema’s controversial “Kill the Boer” chant, alleged corruption, and purported ties to extremist groups. (AfriForum statement)

AfriForum claimed the chant fuels hostility against white farmers and highlighted rising farm violence. It referenced a US State Department report noting the EFF’s alleged role in anti-farmer sentiment. (AfriForum dossier)

Organisation spokesperson Ernst van Zyl stated: “We must continue to shine a light on Malema’s actions and rhetoric.” He stressed this was about “ensuring that dangerous rhetoric is met with consequences globally.” (Direct quote)

US officials reportedly expressed concern over the chants and reiterated calls for South Africa’s government to publicly condemn such incitement. (Unverified diplomatic claims)

Malema and the EFF had not responded to the dossier or AfriForum’s US engagement at time of publication. (Right-of-reply note)

AfriForum clarified it doesn’t advocate violence against Malema, despite social media rumours. The group seeks sanctions similar to the UK’s previous visa refusal for Malema over “inflammatory speeches”.

The campaign increases pressure on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s government to address Malema’s rhetoric while AfriForum vows to escalate international scrutiny.
