Ama Qamata Grieves Loss of Father Marcus

Actress Ama Qamata has announced the death of her father Marcus, sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram this weekend. The Blood & Water and Gomora star posted personal photos alongside her emotional message.

Qamata wrote: “In this moment nothing feels real, life will never be the same again. I love you, Marcus, and I wish I had the opportunity to tell you that one more time you were the best dad in the entire world. I will miss your sarcastic jokes, your very dry sense of humour lol and our conversations that would last for hours.” She described him as a devoted father who showed “undivided love and attention” (Instagram post).

Celebrities offered swift support. Blood & Water co-star Gail Mabalane responded: “I’m so, so sorry, Ama. I am praying for you and the family. ‘God is close to the brokenhearted.’ I love you.” (Instagram comment).

Nomzamo Mbatha added: “Nxese (I’m sorry), Ama. May angels assigned to your healing and comfort, rush to you and your family’s side with the peace of heaven and God’s love. Phephisani” (Instagram comment).

Qamata also shared an Instagram Story video featuring her father speaking fondly about her ambitions: “I’ve known Ama since she was 8 years old… I knew from the beginning that she wants to be a star… you did what you had to do and you did it and that is great” (Instagram Story).

The actress ended her tribute with: “Rest in eternal peace, papa, until we meet again,” confirming she draws strength from their cherished memories and his enduring love (Instagram post).
