Kruger Named World’s Most Instagrammable Safari Park

Kruger Tops Global Social Media Safari Rankings

New research shows Kruger National Park ranks as South Africa’s most Instagrammable safari destination, tying globally with Tanzania’s Serengeti.

The UK-based Travelbag study found Kruger generated over one million Instagram hashtags and 74 600 TikTok posts. Covering nearly 20 000 km², Kruger hosts Africa’s iconic Big Five and remains popular due to easy accessibility from Johannesburg.

Travelbag’s Suzanne Harvey noted: “In South Africa, Kruger National Park shines during the off-peak months when the dry season draws animals to waterholes, making game drives particularly rewarding and peaceful.” (Travelbag study)

Pilanesberg National Park ranks second in South Africa, attracting over 165 000 TikTok posts as a malaria-free reserve near Johannesburg. The study highlighted its ancient volcanic landscape hosting 7 000 animals.

Globally, Tanzania’s Serengeti shares top honors with Kruger due to its wildlife migration spectacle. Kenya’s Maasai Mara ranks third overall with 384 000 Instagram posts.
