Nadia Nakai opens up about secret surgery for “vanity”
JOHANNESBURG — 11 September 2025
South African rapper Nadia Nakai has revealed she secretly underwent cosmetic surgery to achieve her new figure, telling her family she didn’t want to “stress them out” over a “vanish procedure”.
The “Naa Mean” hitmaker confirmed the surgery publicly following a viral video clip showing her disclosure to family on 11 September 2025.
She kept it secret over fears of judgment, explaining a nurse cared for her: “The nurse brought me back and stayed with me for four days to make sure I’m fine, even feeding me.”
“I’m not trying to stress my family out over trivial things,” Nadia stated. “I’d rather talk to them about going to the hospital for a serious thing. I’m not trying to stress out my family because I got my butt done. This is just so I look good on Instagram, on stage, and in photoshoots. It’s not that serious; it’s definitely a vain procedure.”
Nadia joins other local celebrities openly discussing cosmetic surgery. Influencer Cyan Boujee recently said her Brazilian Butt Lift was inspired by Cardi B: “I did my BBL because I just definitely wanted to. I had a lady I looked up to, and I just knew that one day I wanted to look like her.” (The L-Tido Podcast).
Reality star Nozipho Ntshangase from “The Mommy Club” framed her procedures as self-love: “After having my last three kids and just going through things in general, I struggled with loving myself and my confidence just went down the drain.”
Similarly, “Uthando Nes’thembu” alum Vuyokazi Nciweni chose surgery after unsuccessful weight loss attempts: “I’ve tried everything; eating proper foods and all of that, but it has become very unhealthy for me.”
The openness reflects a trend among South African celebs in discussing cosmetic enhancements linked to body image and confidence.
