JOHANNESBURG — 30 July 2025
Popular actress Shalate Sekhabi has exited e.tv’s “House of Zwide” after four years and announced her debut music project for release this month.
Sekhabi gained fame playing Shoki since the show premiered in 2021. Earlier this year, she joined Netflix’s young-adult series “Go!” as Nthabi.
She confirmed her departure in July, calling it “very bittersweet”. On Instagram, she stated: “This is very bittersweet for me because I will miss playing Shoki. I played her for four years, and most of you know me as her.”
Sekhabi acknowledged the role’s impact: “It’s because of this character that I’ve become a household name and got my start in this industry.”
She thanked supporters: “I want to thank Bomb Productions, e.tv, and all the fans for their incredible support over the years. This is truly the end of an era, but all chapters have to end at some point.”
Sekhabi added she looks forward to “future endeavours and sharing more work with all of you” as she prepares to release her first EP.
Fans anticipate her music career shift following her successful acting journey.
