Tebogo G Mashego Apologizes After Social Media Outburst
JOHANNESBURG — 28 September 2025
Amapiano artist Tebogo G Mashego has apologized following an emotional public incident where he was stranded in Nigeria.
The 23-year-old faced fans’ concern after making social media claims about fellow artists. He alleged that group Scorpion Kings (DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small) owed him R23 million for his work on track “Biri Marung” (unverified). Mashego also shared personal claims about other musicians during Instagram Live sessions (unverified).
Footage showed Mashego distressed in Nigeria where a performance fell through. In one video, he stated: “Please forgive me for misbehaving, for all the things that happened in Nigeria. I’m talking to my fans only. Let’s pray. Thank you to everyone who’s had me in their prayers. You can see I’m alive. New everything, including the hair.”
Mashego’s family later issued a statement: “We thank South Africans, especially Tebogo’s fans, for the outpouring of love. Your concerns have not gone unnoticed,” (family statement).
The family requested privacy as Mashego recovers: “We respectfully request time to process the recent incident involving our child. No media or friends should visit. Access is limited to immediate family,” (family statement).
Scorpion Kings haven’t responded to the payment allegations (no response available at time of publication).
