Tyla Features on Teyana Taylor’s Comeback Album

South African Grammy winner Tyla joins US artist Teyana Taylor’s new album “Escape Room”, set for release on 22 August.

Taylor launches her musical comeback after five years with the lead single “Long Time” and a visual short film. Tyla reportedly features on “Pum Pum Jump” alongside Jill Scott. (unverified)

The 22-track album explores overcoming challenges and healing through R&B music combined with cinematic storytelling.

Hollywood stars including Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, and Issa Rae contribute spoken-word interludes to the project.

Tyla, known for her global hit “Party”, previously explained the song’s local inspiration: “I’ve been on this tip of enjoying life, not just partying, but just enjoyment with people that I love, with people that are a vibe. ‘We wanna party’ is actually a South African chant, so we’ve been using it forever. And it’s been a thing for hyping up people and just that feeling of enjoyment. I thought it was perfect for the mixtape ’cause the music screams ‘we wanna party!’”

The album marks Taylor’s return following personal and industry challenges, described as an “artistic statement blending music, film and storytelling”.
