The Kiffness Denies Lying About R500k Deal Over Charlie Kirk Support
16 September 2025
Cape Town musician David Scott, known as The Kiffness, has rejected claims he lied about losing a R500,000 business deal after backing American right-wing figure Charlie Kirk. He says this followed his social media posts about Kirk, who was killed last week (source not provided).
The artist shared a screenshot of a rejection letter on social media, linking the deal cancellation to his online commentary. “Worth it to be honest,” he added (social media post).
His tweet drew almost two million views and over 2000 comments. Several brand managers publicly questioned the validity of his claim (Twitter metrics).
Twitter user @jkarguile stated: “As someone who manages campaigns for the biggest brands in the country, I can tell you with 100% certainty that no one is paying The Kiffness R500k for a campaign” (social media post).
Another user, @ImmortalSoso_, posted: “From handling campaigns for some of the biggest names around, I can assure you there isn’t a single brand dropping R500k on The Kiffness. Lying unprovoked” (social media post).
The Kiffness mostly ignored critics but challenged one journalist who claimed he was “caught in a lie.” He responded, “Sure you want to go down that road?” (social media exchange).
His involvement follows comments supporting controversial activist Charlie Kirk, who was reportedly shot dead in Utah last week (source not provided). The musician hasn’t disclosed details of these posts.
